Round Tapered Tuff-Poles start with Shakespeare Composite Structures specially engineered Round Tapered Poles filament winding process, utilizing equipment built and engineered in house. Fiberglass filaments which are impregnated with pigmented resin are spirally wound onto a rotating, heated mandrel. The winding is precision applied under continuous, uniform tension, helically at low angles for axial strength. Circular windings provide compression strength. The winding processes are linked to sophisticated computer driven process control systems for precision and repeatability - a Shakespeare Composite Structures innovation.

The result is a one-piece, composite pole with a uniform surface along its entire length and a naturally textured finish showing off the shape of the strands of fiberglass which created it. The poles' thermosetting polyester resin contains a minimum of 65 percent fiberglass - maximum 35 percent resin - by weight. A large Tuff-Pole during manufacture

Embedded good looks

From the beginning of the manufacturing process, color pigments and UV-inhibitors are formulated into the resin itself. An array of standard, spacial, and premium colors is available, including architectural colors.
