Light in weight
Light
weight fiberglass reinforced Tuff-Poles save time,
labor, and equipment during installation. Many original
installations or
renovations can be entirely erected by a two- or three-person crew
without
expensive cranes or lifts. In addition, direct
burial fiberglass poles
can be set
with substantially reduced site preparation, minimal construction
equipment and resulting traffic disturbance.
Low in maintenance and
owning cost
Rust is a
foreign concept to composite Tuff-Poles.
They'll look
their best without scraping, priming, or painting, being virtually
maintenance
free over the entire life of the pole. They won't weaken from
rust or rot, so they won't have to be periodically replaced... and a
pole that doesn't need maintenance won't look like it needs
maintenance, either.
The
strength of fiberglass can mean savings. Tall and strong,
supporting luminaire arrays up to 1,000 pounds, Shakpeare
SportsLighting Poles won't twist or warp over time, so the maintenance
crew won't have to spend valuable time re-aiming the lights.
Composite poles will easily outlast wood, aluminum, steel, and concrete
poles under the same climatic conditions. The result: superior
versatility, beauty and owner satisfaction coupled with much
lower owning cost over the lifetime of the pole.
Color durable
Our composite
poles are pigmented throughout during manufacturing. The
poles are coated with a custom formulated, proprietary, polyurethane
containing
UV inhibitors to help prevent fading. Our innovative Veil Finish
on SportsLighting and utility poles is unsurpassed for durability and
resistance to UV.
Tuff-Poles® are available in a
palette of standard, special, and premium colors.
Available and cost-effective
A composite
pole costs less to own than one made of metal or
concrete. Fiberglass composites usually cost less to buy, in the
first place. Shipping costs are lower, too - substantially lower
than for concrete and metal poles. Maintenance costs are
virtually zero; conventional poles which have to be stripped and
repainted over and over end up costing many times their original
price. Our composite poles are available, too.
Specifying poles in the Quick-Ship program
assures you of timely delivery to your site.
Non-Conductive
Fiberglass is
not electrically conductive, so composite Tuff-Poles®
can greatly reduce the hazard of accidental electrocution, and
resulting liability.
Very High in Performance
High winds
and large loads are no problem. Tuff-Poles are
engineered to withstand the sustained winds specified.
Wind loading for all Shakespeare Composite Structures poles is
calculated in accordance with the AASHTO Standard Specification for
Structural
Supports for Highway Signs, Luminaires and Traffic Signals, most
current
version. Test Data and engineering specifications are available
on
request. Low temperature performance is exceptional.
Composite poles actually get stronger with extreme low
temperatures. To
install a pole at the North Pole, a composite pole is the
correct
choice.
Coats of ice and snow won't crack or chip
composite light poles. The poles actually get stronger in
extreme
cold.
Non-Corroding and environmentally sound
Air is one
thing, but soil is another.
Direct burial poles exist partly in air, partly embedded in soil or
concrete. Shakespeare
Composite Structures non-corroding fiberglass won't deteriorate in
acid soil, acid rain, or salt air. And insects won't eat it.
Our fiberglass poles do not require and are made without harmful
wood preservatives that seep into the ground and eventually land in the
water table.
